New Plymouth House is a waterfront home with a simple and calming interior design. The bold architecture emerges as a pushing and pulling of forms. The heavy base of the exterior grounds the structure whilst a lightweight timber facade emerges on the second floor. The wood facade presents as a strong and slightly masculine form, balanced against the softer interior design, which is elevated by a gentle ambiance and coupled with the softness of select furniture choices, a refined palette and incorporated timber materials.
Located in New Zealand, New Plymouth House is a waterfront home with a simple and calming interior design. EMA, with Fisher & Paykel, crafted a home of enduring charm and warmth, daring in its vision of seamless cabinetry within the home, as well as integrated appliances throughout the kitchen. The seamless amalgamation of the home’s kitchen cabinetry and joinery conceals the more practical elements of the home and aligns with a more contemporary aesthetic.
As a waterfront home with a simple and calming interior design, New Plymouth House has two living areas – a formal, upstairs living space and a more casual, relaxed lounge and decking downstairs. The interior design of the more formal living space blends with the open plan kitchen. Fitted with Fisher & Paykel appliances, there is a seamless blend of functional duties. The minimal aesthetic of the Fisher & Paykel appliances allows the kitchen to exist uninterrupted, hidden behind integrated joinery and cabinetry.
The layered materials within the home, coupled with distinctive furniture additions, allow New Plymouth House to stand anchored in place as a waterfront home with a simple and calming interior design.
